Another day, another adventure.
I was curious if Waffle House was still open during the quarantine. It’s such an icon of late-night adventures and I knew the yellow colors would be vibrant and eye-catching at night if I could pull photograph out of it. An empty Waffle House at night with a single employee sitting in a booth on their phone illuminated by a single light above them while wearing a white mask. The vision. Well, this Waffle House was closed so that wasn’t going to work.
Headed uptown. Rolled past a street with a bunch of people standing around. Immediately turns around and gets out because of a peaked curiosity. Figures out some of the Spectrum stores were closed so it funneled a bunch of customers into this store. Everyone needs functioning internet when now the world is online.
Next, I stumbling upon a porch concert series near uptown Charlotte. Found it on Facebook, asked the guy if I could photograph, he agreed, I showed up. At the time this was Josh Daniel’s 9th porch show in a row. He usually would be playing at local bars but because of the coronavirus, those got canceled. He still wanted to keep playing so he started the concert series and it has been really successful. His May 4th live stream concert show has 12,000 views, 195 shares, and 2,000 comments! He is collects virtual tips to support his family. His music was really soothing and most of the time I turned off my photographer brain and just enjoyed. Check him out on Facebook for live music to brighten up your day!
